Aspect Air Vent Ridge tiles provide a convenient and cost effective method of ventilating the roof space at ridge level. They can be used effectively for soil vent and mechanical vent applications, using an appropriate extension box.
Construction
Each Air Vent Ridge is supplied fully assembled and comprises:
• Dense massed concrete cap with cast in zinc plated fixing bolts .
• Galvanised expanded metal birdstop .
• Dense massed concrete ridge base to suit ridge profile .
Installation
Air Vent Ridge are fixed in the same way as ordinary ridge tiles. Where a dry fix system is used it may be necessary to modify the battening to allow clearance for the vent adaptor .
Performance
Aspect Air Vent Ridge will be effective within the pitch range of the roof tiles and general ridge tiles being used.
The net ventilation area for each unit is not less than 12500mm². To achieve an area of 5000mm² per metre run they should be fixed at 2.4m centres.
Air Vent Ridge should not be used to vent hot gases and should not be fixed within 600mm of a ridge terminal used to vent a gas flue to prevent ingress of harmful gases.
The life of an Aspect Air Vent Ridge will be as that for a comparable ridge, as there are no plastic components there is no chance of any part of the ridge becoming brittle or the performance of the unit being impaired.
